Lando Norris is expecting Red Bull to remain a consistent threat to McLaren for the remainder of the 2025 F1 season.
McLaren has been the strongest competitor for much of the campaign, taking 12 wins in the 17 rounds held so far.
Having slipped back in the order midway through the year, Red Bull has taken back-to-back victories at Monza and Baku, respectively.
McLaren endured an uncharacteristically difficult weekend in Azerbaijan, with championship leader Oscar Piastri crashing out on the opening lap and team-mate Lando Norris failing to rise higher than seventh.
Verstappen dominated en route to his fourth win of the year, and Norris was not surprised to see him do so.
“It’s not often that they're slow, so I think people need to stop being so surprised that they're quick,” Norris told media including RacingNews365.
“Max was winning races already at the beginning of the year. He could have won round one.
“I think he was pretty close to winning round two, in the sprint or something. The whole season, they've been quick.
"The Red Bull has been good. They brought some upgrades to Monza, which seems to have helped them improve even more.
“So not a surprise. I think we know that they're an incredibly strong team and he’s one of the best drivers ever in Formula 1.
“So we expect nothing less. They're going to make our life difficult, I think, for the rest of the season.”
Norris spent the latter stages of the race tucked up behind the second Red Bull of Yuki Tsunoda, unable to pass the Japanese driver.
The Briton revealed that by following Tsunoda, he was able to see areas the Red Bull car holds an advantage over McLaren's challenger.
“We struggled a bit here,” Norris said.
“Monza, clearly, we were not quick enough. We've made improvements, but things where the Red Bull have been so good and dominated in the past, they still have and we don't.
“When I was following the Red Bull, there were clearly some areas where they were just another level to us. We need to understand why.”
