Lando Norris has hit back at Red Bull after Max Verstappen's criticism at the end of qualifying in Singapore.
Verstappen accused Norris of impeding him as he finished his final lap in Q3.
The Dutchman went deep into Turn 16 with Norris a handful of seconds in front of him, prompting Verstappen to abort his lap and sarcastically stick his thumb up at the McLaren driver.
Verstappen's race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, stated over team radio that Verstappen can “thank your mate for that”, before the four-time champion declared that he would “remember” the incident going forward.
Speaking to media including RacingNews365, Norris admitted confusion over Red Bull's anger.
“They always complain, they complain about everything,” he said. “That’s Red Bull.”
When asked to share his perspective on the incident with Verstappen, Norris replied: “I don’t even know. I was like three seconds ahead.
“I can’t work it out.”
Norris endured a difficult qualifying session and ended the day in fifth place while title rival Oscar Piastri was third.
Having had little time to carry out a high-fuel run throughout the weekend, Norris is expecting a challenging grand prix.
“When you're the leader around here, it's quite easy, as I found out last year,” he said.
“It's a different story for me tomorrow, try to make up some big places with a car that's not as quick.
“I've not done any high fuel again this weekend, so on the back foot a little bit. But it's a new day, so I'm optimistic we can still try and get a few positions.”
