Lando Norris reveals he hated 'scary' Monaco rule change

The Monaco Grand Prix saw the experimentation of a new F1 rule - one that Lando Norris was not a big fan of!

Lando Norris stated he found the mandatory two pit stop rule for the Monaco Grand Prix a “scary” new regulation. Following many years of predictable race outcomes due to a lack of overtaking at Monaco, F1 attempted to spice up the show last weekend. For the first time, drivers were required to complete two pit stops before the end of the race or incur a major time penalty. In the latter stage of the race, Max Verstappen led the field ahead of Norris, but the former still had to make his final stop of the grand prix. However, if a red flag had been deployed, it would have gifted Verstappen the lead of the race, and more than likely, the victory. But the situation did not come to pass as a Red Bull pit stop on the penultimate lap released Norris back to the head of the field, before he went on to secure his second win of the season. When asked for his thoughts on the rule after the chequered flag, the Briton admitted he was not a fan. ”[I] hated it,” the McLaren driver told media including RacingNews365 . “It made it a lot more scary for me. I wish it was a one-stop. It would have been a lot more chilled.” However, Norris acknowledged the rule change was done in the interest of the spectacle rather than boost his chances of success. “It’s not for me,” he said. “The rules are not made for me. They're not made for us to enjoy it more or whatever. They're made for the fans.  “They’re made to provide more entertainment for the viewers. I don’t know if that was the case.” When asked if he would welcome the rule again next year, Norris quipped: “It depends where I start!”
