RacingNews365 readers have delivered a damning verdict on Lando Norris following his Sprint collision with McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri in Singapore, with a clear majority of poll respondents placing the blame on the Briton.
A poll conducted by RacingNews365 found that 84.8% of respondents believed the incident was Norris' fault, while just 6.9% put the blame on Piastri. The remaining 8.3% viewed the clash as a simple racing incident, suggesting that readers overwhelmingly disagree with the stewards' decision not to take further action against either driver.
The incident occurred on the final lap of the Singapore sprint at Turn 5, when Norris attempted an inside overtake on Piastri for fourth position.
According to the FIA stewards' report, Norris positioned the front axle of his car ahead of Piastri's mirror before the apex, anticipating he would be given room on the inside.
Piastri, however, turned in without expecting the move, before spotting his team-mate's car and trying to leave space. As the gap narrowed at the apex, Norris was forced onto the inside kerb while braking, and his car made contact with Piastri's right-rear tyre, sending both McLarens spinning.
The stewards investigated Norris for potentially causing a collision but opted for no further action, ruling that both drivers had contributed to the clash and that neither was wholly or predominantly to blame.
Piastri failed to finish the sprint, while Norris recovered to eighth. Both drivers bounced back in Sunday's grand prix, with Norris finishing fourth and Piastri fifth behind Max Verstappen's victory.
Lando Norris accepts full responsibility
Team principal Andrea Stella condemned the clash as completely unacceptable, stressing that intra-team contact directly undermines McLaren's championship ambitions.
Rather than apportioning blame in internal debriefs, Stella is understood to have focused on reinforcing the team's collective operating principles, with both drivers reportedly agreeing afterwards that the collision was intolerable and aligning on stricter guidelines for future wheel-to-wheel battles.
Norris himself took full responsibility for the incident when speaking to media, including RacingNews365, after the grand prix.
"It's pretty straightforward," the 13-time grand prix winner said. "I can't attempt what I did.
"I should never have attempted it in the first place, even if the move was on. I've simply got to think more of the team that I represent than myself.
"It was a mistake on my part, and I let down the team, so I've also apologised to all of them, and I owed them all an apology, and we'll do better next time."
Despite Norris' public contrition, the overwhelming weight of reader opinion suggests many fans feel the Briton's version of events only confirms what they already suspected: that the move was his error to own, and that the stewards' verdict of shared responsibility did not reflect where the fault truly lay.
