Lando Norris blasted "idiot" Max Verstappen for an illegal first lap move at the Italian Grand Prix.
With the two sharing the front-row, Norris was first squeezed onto the grass on the long run to Turn 1, before diving, fairly, up the inside of Verstappen to gain the inside line for the first chicane.
However, at the apex, Verstappen cut across the run-off and maintained the lead, with Norris in front of Charles Leclerc who had passed Oscar Piastri.
This lead to Norris to immediately jump on the team radio to exclaim: "Yeah, what the f**k, what is this idiot doing? Come on, he's put me on the grass and then he's just cut the corner."
At the start of the second lap of 53, Red Bull instructed Verstappen to cede position to Norris, doing so on the run to Turn 1.
But on Lap 4, at Turn 1, Verstappen used DRS to roar past Norris, and eke out a 2.2s second by the end of Lap 8.
Piastri runs third ahead of Leclerc, with Lewis Hamilton up to sixth for Ferrari.
Elsewhere, Nico Hulkenberg was told to retire his Stake on the formation lap, recording his first Did Not Start since the 2020 British Grand Prix, when he was a COVID replacement for Sergio Perez at Racing Point, with the car suffering a mechanical issue before the race.
