Lance Stroll's Dutch Grand Prix weekend has gone from good to bad to worse after a costly mistake in qualifying damaged his newly-built Aston Martin.
The error has consigned the Canadian to a Q1 exit at Circuit Zandvoort after he crashed into the wall at Turn 13 on his first push lap of the session.
On entry to the corner, the three-time podium finisher clipped the grass, spinning him around and into the barriers.
Whilst he was able to keep his car moving, getting it back to the pit lane, the damage to the front wing and underside of Stroll's car proved too much for the team to fix before the end of the first part of the qualifying hour.
He will start the Dutch Grand Prix from last on the grid.
It is the 26-year-old's ninth Q1 elimination of the season out of 15 rounds and comes after the Silverstone squad had to build him a new AMR25 after he crashed yesterday in FP2.
That incident damaged the survival cell, with the gearbox and power unit also changed as a precaution.
Aston Martin has shown strong form so far this weekend, with Stroll finishing FP1 in third, before team-mate Fernando Alonso went second-quickest in FP2.
