Lance Stroll is to be investigated after Monaco Grand Prix qualifying for an incident Pierre Gasly branded "shocking."

With the Aston Martin on a cool-down lap, through the exit of the tunnel, he moved across to the right-hand side of the track in the braking zone of the Nouvelle chicane, just as Alpine's Gasly was approaching on a flying lap.

Gasly was forced to abort his lap and called the incident "shocking." The stewards will examine the incident after the session.

He reported that he could not see Gasly, and thought the Alpine was actually the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc

Stroll was handed a one-place penalty following a collision with Leclerc in FP1 at the chicane, also picking up a penalty point.

Both drivers were eliminated in Q1, with Gasly 18th and Stroll 19th.

Stroll will drop to 20th with the penalty, with Gasly actually moving up to 17th following Ollie Bearman's 10 place drop for overtaking under red flags in FP2.
