Former Red Bull driver Daniil Kvyat has signed a deal to become the official test and reserve driver for the Alpine F1 team.
The Russian who was dropped by AlphaTauri at the end of 2020 has found a second lease of life in Formula 1 via the French team. This will not be Kvyat's first stint as a reserve driver as he fulfilled a similar role in 2018 for Ferrari when he was first dropped from the Red Bull stable.
Kvyat will surely have one eye on making a return to a race seat as soon as possible. While he was outshone by his teammate Pierre Gasly last season, Kvyat remains a quick and competent driver who could add another dimension to any of the midfield teams.
