Alfa Romeo F1 reserve driver Robert Kubica will compete for the WRT Racing team in the European Le Mans series this year, the team announced. The Polish driver will compete in the revamped LMP2 prototype category after he competed in the German DTM sportscar series last year. The Belgian team will enter an Oreca 07 Gibson in the six rounds of the continental series, which concludes with the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Kubica said the move represented a new chapter in his varied motorsport career which has spanned everything from F1 to rally racing and sports cars- and now endurance racing. "We will discover together many new things, in a series with a very strong and competitive field, made of talented contenders," he said. "It will be my first full season in endurance racing, sharing the car with teammates, something I discovered a few days ago at Daytona, and I look forward to starting working with the team, at the factory and on the track. The whole project is tremendously motivating and I want to warmly thank Vincent, who pushed very hard to make this happen."
