Kimi Antonelli's qualifying session at the Monaco Grand Prix went no further than the end of Q1 as the Italian hit the barrier in the final moments of the session.
The Mercedes rookie was chasing a session best lap time to lift himself out of the danger zone.
Heading into the Turn 10 chicane, Antonelli clipped the inside barrier, causing damage to his suspension and tyre, which in turn pitched him into the exit wall.
Antonelli ended the session in 15th place, but with the red flag and car damage in play, he was eliminated from the outing.
The 18-year-old apologised over team radio on multiple occasions after confirming he was uninjured.
