Jos Verstappen has revealed that he is worried about the next few seasons for Red Bull, should its 2025 F1 car not be competitive.
The Milton Keynes-based team will reveal its new car – the RB21 – next Tuesday at the Bahrain International Circuit, ahead of the start of pre-season testing the following day.
It marks a significant moment for the team, who lost the constructors' title last season due to several issues with the RB20.
Max Verstappen managed to wrestle the car to secure a fourth consecutive drivers' crown, whilst Sergio Perez consistently struggled.
With McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes all expected to have made gains, the pressure is on Red Bull to rise to the challenge and recover from its 2024 difficulties.
An additional challenge for the Austrian outfit is adjusting to life without Adrian Newey, with the legendary designer having had no influence on the new car.
Looking ahead to the new season and testing next week, Jos believes a first glance of the pecking order will soon be seen with the hope being Red Bull can be near the top.
"You don't know how the others are doing, so everything is new," Jos told RaceXpress. "Next week they are going to test and then you can see a bit of what is happening, but not quite yet.
"So it is a matter of waiting and hoping that Red Bull has made a good car, because that is incredibly important for Max.
"Can they still do it? With these new people, to then put down a good car.... You also take that into next year, when everything is new.
"If they can't get out of it now, you do worry for the years after that. So we're optimistic, but we do want to see it move forward."
