Jos Verstappen has revealed which of Max's F1 titles he believes is best, due to the "emotional moment' it created for the pair.

Max secured his fourth consecutive drivers' title last season despite Red Bull facing difficulties with its car.

The 27-year-old endured a shock 10-race winless streak, resulting in championship pressure from McLaren's Lando Norris.

However, the Dutchman found form in the closing rounds, picking up a crucial victory at a soaked São Paulo.

He had to dig deep to defend his title again, with Jos pointing out that the difference his son makes was more evident due to Red Bull's problems.

"He was extremely good in 2023 too," Jos told F1-Insider. "But of course, 2024 was more difficult for him because the car wasn't the best in the field and he therefore always had to drive at the limit.

"Without making any mistakes. He did that extremely well. He has always given 100 percent. But last year it was more noticeable.

"People noticed that Max can make the difference compared to others."

2021 Max's 'best' title

Of Verstappen's four titles, it is the Red Bull driver's first which Jos rates as his best, despite it being claimed under controversial circumstances.

Lewis Hamilton was overtaken by Max on the final lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, following a late safety car which concluded moments before the final lap.

It resulted in a wave of unimaginable emotion for both Verstappen and Hamilton, with the former naturally euphoric.

"Every title is special and valuable," noted Jos. "The best is always the first. Abu Dhabi 2021 was special. When you win the title on the last lap, you'll never forget it.

"Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton won't like that. But I still remember sitting in the pits with my son shortly after the race and we reviewed his career in fast forward.

"It was an extremely beautiful and emotional moment for both of us. As for this year: His race in the pouring rain in São Paulo obviously stands out.

"He had to start from the back in extremely difficult conditions. It was easy to make a mistake, but Max just drove as if the rain hadn't happened. That was special."
