Jos Verstappen has warned Formula 1 that Max will boycott a launch event next year if it again takes place in the United Kingdom, following "shameful" boos during F1 75.

During Tuesday's F1 75 livery launch event in London, Max Verstappen was booed by the audience whenever he appeared on camera or his name was said.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner received a similar reception, as did the FIA. It is currently unknown if a livery launch event will take place every year or even ever again, following the inaugural event.

Whilst Jos thought the show was overall enjoyable, he has spoken out against the poor reception received by his son and the Milton Keynes-based team.

"In itself I thought it was a reasonable set-up, only I thought it was shameful what happened there with Red Bull Racing," stated Jos in conversation with RaceXpress

"That Christian Horner was booed like that, and Max was booed too. Look, then you do it for Formula 1, you are there to promote the sport and then you are booed by the public.

"I don't think that's acceptable. I get it, because Max is the only one who fires up those Englishmen and says exactly where it's at. But I don't think this is acceptable, it really is a disappointment what happened there."

Max threat

Since the 2021 title fight between Lewis Hamilton and Max, the four-time world champion has always received a negative reception from the majority of British fans.

The Dutchman is regularly booed at the British Grand Prix as well as in the United States at times, with Hamilton also being incredibly popular across the pond.

Following F1 75 and the boos he received, Max has no interest in attending a launch event in England again, according to his father.

"No, Max doesn't feel like that, to be booed like that in front of 25,000 people," added Jos. "He also says, 'If this is in England next year, they definitely won't see me.' And I couldn't agree more with him.

"You're there to promote the sport and showcase the new colour schemes of the cars, but when they go on a rampage like that, the question is what are you there to do?

He has to get ready to go there anyway, but then you get booed like that. I think they should take a hard look at that, because that doesn't belong in this sport."
