Jack Doohan dealt extra blow after Alpine demotion

Jack Doohan faces a nervy wait to see if he will return to the Formula 1 grid this season, following Alpine's major announcement on Wednesday morning.

Jack Doohan has been dealt an extra blow following his Alpine demotion, with Formula 1 fans agreeing that the French outfit made the right decision.  It was announced on Wednesday morning that Doohan had been replaced by Franco Colapinto for at least the next five races, starting from next weekend's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. A further Alpine evaluation will take place ahead of the British Grand Prix, to determine whether Doohan or Colapinto will partner Pierre Gasly for the remainder of the season.  Whilst the demotion might only be temporary, it is step backwards for Doohan in his F1 career, with him now being the team's lead test and reserve driver.  Unfortunately for the Australian, 47.11% of voters in the latest RacingNews365 poll believe that Colapinto deserves a chance. A good number of fans are in Doohan's corner, with 39.34% feeling that he should have not been replaced.  Check out the full poll results below!
