Max Verstappen

Is Verstappen right with his wild F1 title claim?

Is there any truth to Max Verstappen's bold claims about being able to win the 2024 F1 drivers' championship earlier in a McLaren or Ferrari?

Max Verstappen audaciously stated he would have wrapped up the 2024 F1 drivers' championship sooner had he raced for either McLaren or Ferrari.

Those remarks came in the wake of the Dutchman securing a fourth-successive crown at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Red Bull has endured a difficult campaign and, despite Verstappen's feat, is staring down the barrel of a third-place finish in the constructors' championship, ending its run of titles.

Heavily-influenced by the poor form of Sergio Perez, both McLaren and Ferrari have put together stronger seasons than the Milton Keynes squad - also something that has been compounded by the underwhelming Red Bull RB20.

Nevertheless, Verstappen suggested he would have clinched his latest title sooner had he been racing for one of his team's main rivals, something that was flatly rejected by Lando Norris and dismissed as a "stretch" by Charles Leclerc.

The 27-year-old doubled-down on his claim, saying he knows what he "can and cannot do", but do fans of F1 feel there is merit to his assertions?
