Max Verstappen has pointed the finger at Red Bull for helping to cause his incidents with Lando Norris in the Mexico City Grand Prix.
On lap 10, Verstappen ran Norris off the track at Turn 4 as the McLaren attempted to pass around the outside for second-place, with Norris allowing leader Carlos Sainz to reassume P1 having cut ahead of him.
He did not allow Verstappen back through, and moments later at Turn 8, Verstappen lunged Norris, forcing both off track and ostensibly passing the McLaren off track.
For each of these incidents, he received a 10-second time penalty apiece, equating to 20 seconds worth of penalties - served at his sole pitstop as he finished sixth.
Norris finished second to take 10 points out of the Red Bull driver to now sit 47 points behind with four rounds remaining in the season.
After the race, the stewards would hand Verstappen a further sanction with two penalty points on his licence for the Turn 4 move, bringing his total to six for the 12-month period.
Reflecting, Verstappen put the finger of blame at Red Bull's door, as it slipped to third in the constructors' - after Ferrari took 41 of the 44 points on offer through a one-three for Sainz and Charles Leclerc, who took fastest lap.
"The problem is that we are too slow and that is why I am being put in those kind of positions," Verstappen told media including RacingNews365.
"That is my problem and to get back to sixth was alright, but I couldn't get back to the Mercedes' in front, I just had no grip, I was sliding a lot and couldn't brake, so it was a tough one.
"The biggest problem that I have is that today was a bad day in terms of race pace - that was quite clear again on the mediums and the hard tyres."
