Nico Hulkenberg has been summoned to the stewards for an "alleged breach of Article 34.8 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations".
The Haas driver was seen appearing to be accelerating in the slow lane within the pits at the beginning of qualifying for Sunday's Chinese Grand Prix.
He performed well in the grid-setting session, getting through to Q3, where he set the ninth fastest time.
The German will appear before the stewards at 16:50 local time - 09:50 UK time and 10:50 CET.
The full reason given was as follows: "Alleged breach of Article 34.8 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations and Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 5 b) of the International Sporting Code - Pit lane incident at 15:00."
