Pepe Marti flipped his Cupra Kiro during a full-course yellow (FCY) with only three laps of the season-opening São Paulo E-Prix remaining, bringing out a red flag.
The Spanish driver, on debut, was running in the top 10 when the FCY came out due to Mitch Evans crashing his Jaguar.
As the cars ahead of him slowed quickly, Marti was caught out and collided with the rear of António Félix da Costa in the sister Jaguar.
He was instantly sent skyward, crashing down on the asphalt with his car flipping multiple times before catching fire.
However, he was able to get out of the car, and the flames were quickly put out. The subsequent red flag period allowed repairs to be made to the broken Jaguar of Félix da Costa, which restarted from P14.
