Huge crash between Bottas and Russell causes red flag at Emilia Romagna GP

The pair came together at high speed on the way down to turn one midway through the race. Both drivers came away unscathed but blamed each other for the incident.

George Russell and Valtteri Bottas had a huge crash in the Emilia Romagna GP when the pair came together at high speed on the run down to Turn 2. Russell was attempting to make an overtake on Bottas until he caught the damp white line and spun at nearly 300km/h into the side of Bottas' car. Both drivers had a further impact at the first chicane with Bottas particularly stunned by the incident. The incident will be investigated after the race. As a result of the debris scatted across the track on the approach to Turn 2, the race was stopped with Red Bull's Max Verstappen in the lead.
