Max Verstappen is now just one point away from triggering a race ban after his Spanish Grand Prix collision with George Russell.
Aggrieved that Russell had forced him wide at Turn 1, Verstappen agreed to Red Bull's demand to let Russell through, but then rammed the Mercedes at Turn 5.
For this, the stewards handed him an immediate 10-second time penalty, which dropped him from fifth to 10th in the final results, but then slapped him with three penalty points.
This moves the Dutchman to 11 penalty points, with 12 triggering an immediate ban. His next set do not come off until after the Austrian GP, with two points expiring on June 30th.
It means he must navigate the Canadian and Austrian GPs penalty-free.
