Hill thinks Norris will banter Ricciardo about Bahrain result

Former Formula 1 champion Damon Hill shares his insight into the Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo relationship saying both drivers will push each other to get better.

Former Williams driver and F1 world champion Damon Hill believes the rivalry between Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo will be interesting to watch as the season progresses. At the 2021 F1 season opener in Bahrain, Norris got the better of Ricciardo, brining his McLaren MCL35 home in fourth place while Ricciardo could only manage seventh. Hill beleives this was the best possible outcome for Norris. "The next time they go to a meeting or pre race briefing Lando will just go, 'Yeah we'll beat you in the last race didn't I?'" Hill told the the F1 Nation Podcast. "He's got that in the bank, that's a great start for that relationship because I mean there's no way that Daniel Ricciardo is going to be over walked over by Lando Norris. It's going to be tight between the two of them. "If Lando Norris can take even a few nicks off of Daniel Ricciardo's reputation then he'll have done a fantastic job because he's new to the sport, Ricciardo is not new to the sport, he's a very experienced feisty driver, with race wins under his belt so not a pushover by any stretch of the imagination." McLaren certainly do have a very interesting driver lineup with both Norris and Ricciardo being highly rated. The Woking-based squad will be hoping their drivers help them bridge the gap to Mercedes and Red Bull as they seek to claim their first win in Formula 1 after eight years.
