Former F1 steward Johnny Herbert has shared details of his sudden dismissal from his role within the FIA.
Herbert attended a number of races as an F1 steward in recent seasons as he helped police the on-track action between drivers.
His stint did not come without its sticking points as he was accused by the Verstappen camp of holding a bias against Red Bull driver and favouring British competitors - a claim Herbert refuted.
Last month, the FIA confirmed Herbert would no longer serve as a race steward at grands prix events.
The decision was a sudden one, but Herbert has claimed the FIA only made its decision after it was influenced by outside comments.
“It didn’t come from within the FIA initially,” Herbert told casinoapps.com.
“It was all to do with chitter-chatter to the FIA that made them change their point of view.
“Everything I'd done all year long in 2024 had been discussed and accepted.”
Herbert highlighted he was informed just days before being let go that he was on course for further steward duties for the 2025 campaign.
“Two days before I was eventually given the sack over the phone, I’d been told all was good for 2025,” he said. “Then it wasn’t.
“I understand how everything came about. But I am not going to point the finger.
“But as I said, there were certain people who did actually speak with the president [of the FIA] and that's why the president finally made that decision to get rid of me.”
