Despite getting his 2021 Formula 1 season off to a shaky start during the sole pre-season F1 test in Bahrain, Lewis Hamilton says he is looking forward to the challenge posed by the Red Bull Racing team. The Red Bull Racing team were at the front of the queue during the three day pre-season F1 test in Bahrain. The Austrian outfit managed to top three out of the six sessions with both their dirver Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez topping the time sheets. The increased competition however has gotten Hamilton excited. "I think it's a really exicitng moment for the team," Hamilton said to Sky Sports F1. "Year on year we're faced with these challenges and what's always encouraging and impressive for me is seeing the guys pull together. The men and women in our team really make the team what it is. I love seeeing them rally up and work on the calculations to get us where we need to be. We're not the quickest but it doesn't mean we can't get there." Hamilton also answered the question if this year's rule changes has impacted the W12 negatively saying that the team isn't focused on looking for excuses but rather on finding solutions. "Time will naturally tell, but I think it's a defeatist attitude (blaming the rule book) and we don't look it at that way," Hamilton continued. "We look at the sitaution as glass half full and the guys are working flatout at the factory and us here just so we understand and try to get the car in its sweet spot. Whether that's a wide or small window or smaller than last year, we're yet to fully understand but we're in the same position as everyone in that sense." Despite the mounting challenges Hamilton is looking forward to what he hopes will be another great season for him and his team especially with Red Bull looking so strong. "Yeah I've never been so excited," Hamilton concluded.
