Lewis Hamilton has defended Mercedes and team-mate George Russell following social media backlash after the Canadian Grand Prix.

The Brackley-based squad came close to securing its first victory of the year, with Russell crossing the line just over four seconds behind race-winner Max Verstappen.

Ex-FIA boss makes striking claim over Schumacher’s F1 level

Jean Todt has claimed Mick Schumacher "deserves" to be in F1, arguing he is "better than half" the current grid.

The former Ferrari team principal and FIA president said he wants to see Schumacher return the series, having been dropped by Haas at the end of 2022 - after just two seasons in F1.

Alpine sign former team principal as advisor

Flavio Briatore is to make a return to F1 with the organisation he left 15 years ago, RacingNews365 understands.

Alpine staff were apparently informed of the move at their bases in Enstone and Viry on Thursday evening.

Two men arrested after blackmailing Schumacher family - report

Two men have reportedly been arrested after allegedly blackmailing the family of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.

Bild reports that the men from Wuppertal were seeking to make millions through the scheme.

Sainz still undecided on F1 future

Carlos Sainz has confirmed a decision on his future in F1 will "be taken very soon", but insists he is still yet to make up his mind.

The 29-year-old has known for some time he will be leaving Ferrari at the end of the season, after Lewis Hamilton's move to the Scuderia was announced in February.

RB confirms major upgrade for Spanish GP

RB will introduce an aerodynamic upgrade for the Spanish Grand Prix, at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, as confirmed by technical director Jody Egginton.

The team announced ahead of the weekend that it will bring updated bodywork, as well as developed floors and rear wings for both cars.
