Mercedes have finally launched their much-anticipated W12 Formula 1 car. The team are looking to win their eighth straight title in F1 with Lewis Hamilton also looking to claim a record-breaking eighth world title. While Hamilton says he is excited to see the final culmination of all the hard work done by his team members over the winter, the Englishman himself has had to deal with the issue of his contract extension. In the end, both Hamilton and Mercedes agreed on a one-year extension with the Brit looking to make history with the German team in 2021. "The launch day of a new car is always a really exciting one,” said Hamilton in an official statement made by Mercedes for the launch of the W12. "It’s great to reveal to the world the result of everyone’s hard work at the factories and to see some of my team-mates in person, which has been so rare during the past year. I’ve been in touch with the engineers through the winter, keeping track of their preparations as I prepare myself for the season ahead. "The excitement has been building and building, so now I just can’t wait to get out on track in the W12." Standing on the precipice of becoming the most dominant driver ever in the history of Formula 1, Hamilton will be hoping Mercedes have carried over their form from the past seven years into 2021. The Englishman will targeting a record-breaking eighth world title and is well placed to become the first driver in history to win 100 Grand Prix.
