Maximilian Günther has rejoined DS Penske six years after being handed his chance in Formula E with the team.
Günther began his Formula E career in 2018 as a test and reserve driver when the team was then known as GEOX Dragon before making his race debut the following year, scoring two top-five finishes.
After two seasons with BMW-Andretti Motorsport, a single campaign with Nissan, and then two years with Maserati, Günther has opted to return to DS Penske for Formula E's 11th season which starts in São Paulo in early December.
“I’m very happy to be joining DS Penske, a powerhouse in the championship and a project with strong vision," said five-time e-prix winner Günther. "We share the same ambitions and are all driven to be at the top of Formula E.
"Representing DS Performance, a manufacturer which has won several championships already is a real privilege. Same for being a team-mate with a champion like Jean-Eric Vergne. It’s something I look forward to.
"A very special element for me is to drive for Jay’s team again. He brought me into the championship when I was 20 years old. I’m proud to be part of the team and excited about what we will build together in the future.”
Günther will make his first appearance for the team at the pre-season test at Valencia's Ricardo Tormo circuit on November 4-7.
