Gasly: It was 17 laps of trying to stay on the track

The AlphaTauri driver was left deeply frustrated with the car's performance during Sprint Qualifying at the British Grand Prix.

Pierre Gasly was baffled about AlphaTauri's lack of pace at Silverstone as he failed to make any ground during Sprint Qualifying. AlphaTauri have been very competitive in recent races but have been unable to demonstrate any signs of strong speed so far at the British Grand Prix. "It was bad," Gasly told F1.com. "I'm very disappointed because I don't know why since the start of the weekend, we just can't get the car working. It was just 17 laps trying to stay on the track rather than attacking or just doing something "We are just struggling so much, can't brake, just understanding every corner so it just feels like something is not working and its the first time this season. "The car has been incredible on all the tracks but for some reason this weekend we are really struggling." Gasly is hopeful about a better performance during the race but the new sprint format means parc ferme rules have been in place since the end of the first practice session on Friday, so changes are limited. "We have got to do better than that honestly," said Gasly. "It was very disappointing but we will try everything we can. "Obviously its limited since the car after FP1, we could not change anything but we will try everything we can to at least try to get a point on Sunday."
