Pierre Gasly caused a red flag less than 10 minutes into the final practice session at the British Grand Prix.
Approaching the penultimate corner of the track, Gasly lost control of his car under braking in wet conditions and found himself spinning into the gravel trap.
With the tyres digging into the gravel, Gasly found himself beached and was forced to abandon his car.
The Frenchman's former team-mate Yuki Tsunoda had a similar spin earlier in the lap in slippery conditions on Friday, which also resulted in being stranded in the gravel.
Gasly is set to start this weekend's British Grand Prix from the back of the grid due to extensive changes to his power unit components.
