Former F1 team boss linked to Hamilton MotoGP project - report

Lewis Hamilton has been linked with a venture into MotoGP and investing in an existing team.

A former F1 team boss has been linked with involvement in Lewis Hamilton's rumoured buy-in to a MotoGP team. It emerged last year that Hamilton was seeking to invest in an existing team, having been a fan of the premier two-wheel series for some time. At the end of 2024, KTM motorsports director Pit Beirer confirmed Hamilton held “concrete talks” with the Austrian outfit. Now, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Alessandro Alunni Bravi is involved and helping Hamilton with his quest. Bravi was part of the Sauber F1 team for several years and rose to the position of team representative across the last two seasons. The Italian was effectively the face of the team as he spoke on behalf of the squad during race weekends alongside other team principals. However as the squad continues to restructure ahead of Audi's arrival next year, Bravi's departure from Sauber was confirmed earlier the week , with his release announcement detailing he was taking on a “new project”. La Gazzetta claims the project in question could be assisting seven-time F1 champion Hamilton with his latest investment plan. Hamilton already has several business dealings away from F1, including being part-owner of the Denver Broncos in the NFL. However, complications could arise in his quest to link up with a MotoGP team after an investigation into Liberty Media was initiated by the European Union. Liberty, who is the commercial rights owner of F1, signalled its intention to acquire the commercial rights of MotoGP, which was flagged by the EU amid concerns it could restrict free competition between other parties when the commercial deals are renegotiated. The investigation could deter current interested parties from getting involved in the series in the near future.
