Former F1 Esports champion Brandon Leigh switches from Mercedes to Ferrari

Two-time Esports champion Brandon Leigh will partner 2019 winner David Tonizza at Ferrari in this year's F1 Esports championship.

After winning the F1 Esports championship in 2018 and 2020, two-time champion Bredon Leigh will swap Mercedes and join Ferrari's FDA Esports team for 2020. This will mark the first time that a team will field two champion drivers as teammates. Leigh has been racing in the Esport series since its inception in 2017 and has been a part of the Mercedes team since nine of the ten teams entered the series in 2018. “My excitement in joining the FDA Esports team is off the scale," commented Leigh about the switch. "I’ve only just signed, but it’s already clear to me that their passion and commitment to winning mirrors my own. I get a sense of the unity within the team which makes it one big race-winning family." “I can’t wait to get to work with the team and sport the red Ferrari colours!” Leigh would go on to dominate the 2018 championship, winning six races, though he would lose out on the title to David "Tonzilla" Tonizza in 2019 when Ferrari became the last team to join the series. The pair would duke it out in 2020 with Leigh pipping Tonizza to the title by five points, winning the championship with 84 points. Now that Leigh has officially announced his plans for 2021, the item on the agenda is to see who Mercedes will replace him with.
