Former Alpine team principal Oliver Oakes is in Imola this weekend at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
The 37-year-old has been seen in the F2 and FIA F3 paddock at the Italian circuit, where Hitech, his former team, is racing in the F1 support categories.
Alpine announced his immediate resignation two days after the Miami Grand Prix, the previous round of the season, sending the F1 rumour mill into overdrive.
However, it transpired it was not linked to Team Enstone's decision to sideline Jack Doohan for Franco Colapinto. Instead, it was due to his brother, William, being arrested in the United Kingdom for transferring criminal property and being in possession of a large quantity of cash. It was reported at the time that Oakes had flown to Dubai.
Although now he is in Italy, as he continues to be involved with Hitech, the team formerly led by Dmitry Mazepin.
After the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, his majority stake was transferred to Oliver Oakes, with William Oakes then holding the role of CEO since 2024, when Oliver assumed his role at Alpine.
