The FIA has confirmed a spectator has died following a tragic incident during Round 2 of the FIA CODASUR Rally Championship at Rally Sudamericano Mina Clavero in Argentina.

Two other spectators were injured in the incident, which occurred on Sunday.

Competitors Didier Arias and Héctor Núñez were unharmed as the car rolled over into a specator area, however, one individual suffered fatal injuries.

The governing body issued a statement extending condolences to the family of the deceased and confirming it would support organisers and local authorities in their investigation.

"The FIA is deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred today during Round 2 of the FIA CODASUR Rally Championship at Rally Sudamericano Mina Clavero, in which one spectator lost their life and two others were injured," the statement read.

"We extend our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, and our thoughts remain with all those injured and affected. We thank the emergency services and medical teams for their rapid response.

"The FIA will provide its full support to the organisers of Rally Sudamericano Mina Clavero, Automóvil Club Argentino (ACA), CODASUR and the relevant local authorities in their investigation into the incident."

The CODASUR Rally Championship operates across five South American nations, with Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Uruguay and Argentina featuring regularly on the calendar.

The championship is sanctioned by the FIA and run under the auspices of CODASUR, the South American motorsport confederation.
