Ferrari to run upgrades on single car for Spanish GP practice

The team will run their latest Red Bull-inspired upgrade package in FP1 for the first time.

Ferrari has brought the first part of their significant upgrade package to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, as they look to close the gap to Red Bull. RacingNews365.com understands that Carlos Sainz will be the first driver to test the new upgrades during FP1 for the Spanish Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc will still have the old package fitted to his car, as the team look to conduct the usual back-to-back evaluation on the updates. Car update submissions from the FIA confirm that Ferrari will run an upgraded floor and sidepods on the SF-23, as well as the top of the rear wing which is a circuit-specific update. First images of the upgrade package taken on Thursday show Ferrari has taken inspiration from the Red Bull RB19, as they look to improve the drivability of the SF-23 for their drivers. Both Sainz and Leclerc were cautious when asked whether the upgrades will bring significant changes to their lap time .
