After 90 minutes of very clean driving throughout the field, there has been the first huge clash of the 2024 Le Mans 24 Hours.
The crash occurred in the LMGT3 class for the #54 Vista AF Corse, being driven at the time by Thomas Flohr.
Flohr lost control of his Ferrari under braking for the Dunlop Chicane, resulting in a big impact with the barrier.
A slow zone was triggered for marshals to repair the barrier and retrieve the badly damaged Ferrari, which had completed 30 laps of the Circuit de la Sarthe.
Minutes later and Robin Frijns crashed in the final corners, behind the wheel of his BMW Hypercar.
The circuit consists of very mixed conditions following a dry start but then a short rain shower, where some drivers risked remaining on slick tyres.
Ferrari currently lead the race overall, with the #83 AF Corse Hypercar.
