Ferrari reveal turning point for F1 title charge

Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has pinpointed Monza as the turning point for the team's title hopes this year.

The Italian squad arrived at its home event with a plethora of new parts, including upgrades to the floor.

It emerged victorious at the end of the race weekend with Charles Leclerc and has since added two further wins in the USA and Mexico.

Ferrari now sit just 29 points behind leaders McLaren in the constructors' championship, having overtaken reigning title holders Red Bull last time out in Mexico.

With a strong step up in form of late, Ferrari boss Vasseur stated the parts fitted at the Italian Grand Prix weekend were crucial to its current form.

“The last time that we brought something I think it was Monza, the big one,” he told media including RacingNews365. 

“But we were not sure, perhaps at the beginning we were thinking that perhaps it's track-related.

“Then we had two street circuits in a row with Baku and Singapore, and it's only in Austin that we came back to a more conventional circuit, to the whole conclusion.

"But it's true that from Monza, we are in a much better place.”

Vasseur stated it took Ferrari time to understand its upgrades as it looks to maintain its current race-winning form.

“The fight is very, very tight,” Vasseur added.

“It means that we are all a bit on the edge. For one or two-tenths, you can move from a very good weekend to a poor one. When you’re not in clean air, it’s a completely different story.

"Sometimes when you bring something that you need one or two weekends to be used to set up the car. That's probably what happened with us.”
