Ferrari raise Newey financial concerns - report

Ferrari have reportedly cooled its interest in former Red Bull chief technical officer Adrian Newey.

Ferrari has reportedly cooled its interest in ex-Red Bull chief technical officer Adrian Newey, with his financial demands being too high.  According to BBC Sport , Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna is reluctant to meet Newey's salary demands and is concerned that the 65-year-old could change the way the Maranello-based outfit operates.  Reportedly, there are concerns amongst Ferrari that Newey could wield too much power, making a move look unlikely at this moment in time.  Newey has stated that he is unsure yet where he will move, although McLaren and Aston Martin are the main parties in the race for his signature.  The BBC further reports that the race for Newey's services is currently being led by Aston Martin, with the Silverstone-based team looking the most likely as Newey's next destination.

Goodwood celebrations

Newey was with Red Bull at the iconic Goodwood Festival of Speed last weekend, where the Austrian outfit's 20-year F1 history was celebrated.  Red Bull cars of all ages took on the Goodwood Hillclimb, driven by Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, Daniel Ricciardo, Mark Webber, David Coulthard, Christian Klien, Hamda Al Qubaisi and team principal Christian Horner.  The covers were also taken off Red Bull's first hypercar – the RB17 – which has been designed by Newey.  The machine, of which only 50 will be produced is priced at £5.75 million GBP, excluding tax and is claimed to be faster around Silverstone than an F1 car.  It features a Cosworth V10 that delivers 15,000rpm with Newey not constrained by any rules, like F1 cars are.
