The first day of a three day 18 inch tyre test at the Bahrain International Circuit is complete, with Ferrari running the new wheels and tyres on Tuesday. Both Ferrari and Alpine stayed on the circuit following Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix, with a three day test planned by Pirelli at the venue. Ferrari had a modified test car, their 2019 SF90, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz at hand to carry out the test programme. Carlos Sainz drove in the morning, racking up 54 laps, with Charles Leclerc completing 87 laps in the afternoon. Alpine will carry out the next two days of testing, with Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso at the wheel of a modified 2019 car. Pirelli are carrying out 28 days of 18 inch tyre testing in 2021, with nine of the ten teams supplying mule cars for Pirelli to use. Only Williams are not planning to participate in the testing programme. The teams are not given any data regarding the tyre compounds being used, with all data learned by Pirelli shared among all the teams.
