Fernando Alonso has paid tribute to his long-time ally Fabrizio Borra following the Italian's passing last weekend.
Alonso announced the death of the Italian, who was 64, on social media.
The duo had worked together since Alonso's rookie season at Minardi in 2001, with Borra following the Spaniard to Renault, McLaren, Ferrari, Alpine and Aston Martin, across multiple stints.
Speaking about Borra's passing, Alonso paid a heartfelt tribute to his loyal right-hand man.
"It has been a tough week, a tough few days for all the people who worked with him for many, many years," Alonso reflected to media, including RacingNews365.
"I started with Fabrizio in 2001 at Minardi, and after 24 years together, we obviously did so many things together, experiences and travelled around the world 24 times, so it is very sad.
"He was a man with strength and dedication that was very noticeable in all the disciplines.
"He worked with [Marco] Pantani in cycling, and some other great cyclists, on TV shows and for athletes here in Italy at the Olympic level.
"In all sports, he was able to give something extra to the athlete and the community.
"He will be remembered, and that is very important for a person who dedicates his life to the sport."
