Fernando Alonso has outlined his satisfaction over how Adrian Newey is conducting himself at the Aston Martin squad.
Newey started work at the Silverstone-based outfit earlier this year following his exit from Red Bull, where he worked for almost 20 years.
The Briton is putting his entire focus into next season's car, which is being built under a fresh set of technical regulations.
Newey's F1 success includes the design of cars that have won 14 drivers' and 12 constructors' titles.
Speaking on the Aston Martin YouTube channel, Alonso detailed his amazement with how Newey carries out his work.
“For sure, the best ever designer in the sport and no one probably will achieve the numbers that he has,” Alonso said.
“The way he works explains some of the results that he had.
“He has an incredible way of seeing the car as one piece that works together, not single devices that provide performance. He can just anticipate the whole car in one piece.
“He seems in control of everything at all the time, a self-confidence that I probably never saw before.
“He’s not stressed about any other team or any other philosophy or any other design. He believes that his will be the best.”
Aston Martin has endured a difficult campaign this year and currently sit in the bottom half of the constructors' championship.
However, Alonso is hoping the team will take a sizeable step forward next year with Newey fronting the design of the car, as the Spaniard goes in hunt of his third F1 title.
When asked how he feels watching Newey working at the squad, Alonso declared: “Very safe.
“He came to Monaco for the race. He was just in the garage.
“He's not talking to many people, but at the same time, always thinking and touching the front wheel here, the suspension there.
“He's, I think, an artist more than an engineer.”
