Fernando Alonso's poor start to the 2025 F1 season has continued with an eighth consecutive point-less race after retiring from the Monaco GP.
Having qualified in sixth, Alonso was running in sixth place but a power unit issue struck just after half-distance, dropping the Spanish racer out, and following Pierre Gasly into retirement, pulling off at Rascasse and meaning no safety car or virtual safety car was required.
It is now officially Alonso's worst start to a season since his 2001 rookie season for Minardi, in which he went entirely point-less.
Since then, in 2015, he went seven races, in which he competed, from the start of the season without scoring a point, having not been entered or started the Australian GP due to concussion protocols following his testing crash.
He scored a point at Silverstone in round nine of the 2015 season, bringing to an end his run of seven races without a point in his eighth appearance of the season.
