F1 team opens door for Ricciardo 2024 return

Haas team boss Guenther Steiner has not ruled out the Australian as a candidate for their team in the future.

Haas Team Principal Guenther Steiner claims that "everybody is wanting to speak" to Daniel Ricciardo about a seat in 2024. The Australian is currently the third driver for Red Bull Racing, after being ousted from his seat at McLaren in favour of compatriot Oscar Piastri due to poor performance. "Everybody is wanting to speak with Danny after a year off, maybe he knows again what he wants to do and he will be interesting for everybody in F1," said Steiner to media, including RacingNews365.com . Alpine confirmed they were in talks with Ricciardo for his services , and Haas also emerged as a potential route at the time given the departure of Mick Schumacher. However, financially it made more sense for Ricciardo to return to his old team while he looks for other opportunities to return.

Could Ricciardo join Haas?

While Steiner claims Ricciardo is a popular candidate for a 2024 drive, he stopped short of saying that they will be evaluating their driver lineup for subsequent seasons. He added: “It’s a little bit early to speak about a driver change already for next year, so let’s see how we are doing with these drivers!” “For sure at some point, maybe I’ll speak with him, but I cannot promise anything, because if our two guys do a good job, I think [that’s] where I stand with it… "But at the moment I have a new driver this year that has done only two races, so I need to give him a little bit of a chance."
