Ahead of this weekend's season finale in Abu Dhabi, some of the F1 drivers have shown off unique helmet designs as they pay tribute to eras that are coming to a close on Sunday. Antonio Giovinazzi, who himself is leaving F1 for Formula E, is paying tribute to his Alfa Romeo teammate, Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn departs F1 after more than two decades and has become friends with the young Italian during their time together from 2019-2021. Giovinazzi will run a helmet design inspired by Raikkonen's colour scheme from his championship year in 2007. Valtteri Bottas, who is departing Mercedes after five seasons to join Alfa Romeo, also showcased his new helmet design on media day. The helmet features memories from Bottas' years with the team and was designed by his girlfriend, Tiffany Cromwell. It reads "Danke Mercedes" on the top. AlphaTauri's Yuki Tsunoda is another to be racing with a special helmet. Paying tribute to the departing Honda, Tsunoda has chosen to run with a design acknowledging their backing of him, having joined the company's driver development programme in 2017.

You’ve seen cool. Now you’ve seen this 😍 Antonio’s helmet for the weekend is inspired by that worn by Kimi during his World Championship season of 2007, and features a message of thanks to the Finn as the duo completes three years as team-mates. pic.twitter.com/TzyGD3UPm5 — Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN (@alfaromeoracing) December 10, 2021
