F1 confirm support bill for new grand prix venue

The Spanish Grand Prix will leave the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya after 2025, when it heads to Madrid for at least 10 seasons. Now, it has bolstered the event's line-up with F2 and FIA F3 going with it.

When the Spanish Grand Prix moves to Madrid for the 2026 F1 season, it will bring F2 and FIA F3 with it.

The championship has signed a 10-year deal to host an F1 weekend in the Spanish capital city, and the schedule for the first running of the event is now taking shape.

F2 and FIA F3 have raced at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya in support of F1 since the series re-launched in their current guises, in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Whilst the Catalonian track battles to remain part of the F1 calendar, it now appears unlikely to have the two main feeder categories competing there.

"I am extremely happy to bring F2 and F3 to Madrid, at this exciting new venue," said F2 and FIA F3 CEO Bruno Michel.

"It's important that the young drivers in both our championships get to race on as many F1 tracks as possible.

"With the addition of Madrid to the Formula 1 calendar, it was logical that F2 and F3 would follow suit. I am really looking forward to our cars providing the spectators with some thrilling racing."
