Extreme weather in Miami has forced the cancellation of the F1 Academy support race ahead of the Miami Grand Prix. Due to start at 13:00 local time, the cars did head out for sighter laps behind the safety car, but owing to the heavy rain fall and cars spinning out, they were swiftly brought back to the pit-lane. A message was sent that the race could start at 13:31 local time, but at the time, the race was cancelled. The F1 grand prix is due to start at 16:00 local time. The second race of the weekend for the all-female series will now be classed as voided, with Mercedes junior Doriane Pin having won the first race on Saturday. Ferrari backed junior Maya Weug retains the championship lead ahead of the next round - supporting the Canadian Grand Prix in June.
