Emilia Romagna GP weather: A chance of rain in Imola?

The second round of the 2021 Formula 1 championship begins at 14:00 UK time, with the Emilia Romagna GP. Rain was on the forecast for Sunday prior to the start of the race weekend. Do the chances of rain still remain?

Lewis Hamilton will start the Emilia Romagna GP from pole position after a stunning qualifying lap on Saturday to beat both of the Red Bull drivers. It was Sergio Perez who provided the closest challenge to Hamilton with a maiden Formula 1 front row start, outqualifying teammate Max Verstappen. Less than a tenth split the top three in one of the closest qualifying sessions in the turbo-hybrid era . Wet weather was set to play a role today (Sunday) but the chances of rain have quickly diminished. A dry race is now expected although there will be more cloud cover with showers in the Imola area. This is likely to bring down the track temperatures compared to the Saturday and Friday running. Temperatures will reach a high of 13 degrees celcius, just as the race begins at 14:00 UK time (15:00 local). The wind has not been an issue in Imola and the low-wind speed conditions are set to continue with a highest wind speed of just 15km/h in a westerly direction. This means the wind should provide a tail wind down the main straight which will make the braking slightly trickier into the first chicane.
