Biography of Franco Colapinto
In 2024, Franco Colapinto made his Formula 1 race debut for Williams. The Argentine replaced Logan Sargeant from the Italian Grand Prix onwards and was able to finish the season. Colapinto is considered a talented driver and before his temporary promotion, he was active as a Formula 2 driver for MP Motorsport.
The 21-year-old driver had his greatest success in Spanish Formula 4, where he became a convincing champion in 2019. Colapinto raced in Formula 3 in 2022 and 2023, before making the step up to Formula 2 at the beginning of 2024. He also briefly raced alongside Nyck de Vries in the LMP2 class of the European Le Mans Series in 2021.
In 2025, it initially seemed that Franco Colapinto would serve as a reserve driver for the Alpine team. However, after the Miami Grand Prix, it was announced that the Argentine would replace full-time driver Jack Doohan, securing a permanent seat in the team alongside Pierre Gasly.
