Yuki Tsunoda has improved considerably as a driver but has never looked likely to partner Max Verstappen at Red Bull.
The RB driver comfortably out-performed Daniel Ricciardo prior to the Australian's departure, and now faces a new challenge in Liam Lawson for the remaining six races.
Tsunoda has been very impressive the last couple of seasons, raising the question why he is yet to be considered for a Red Bull promotion.
That has, for the first time, now changed, as Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko revealed that the 24-year-old is a candidate to replace Sergio Perez.
