Dennis discusses failed Formula E title defence as Andretti 'refocus'

Jake Dennis was unable to defend his Formula E world title, with Pascal Wehrlein securing the crown.

Jake Dennis has conceded that he simply didn't feel "good in the car" in the recently completed Formula E season, where he failed to defend his world title.  The Andretti star entered last season as a favourite to claim a second consecutive world championship, due to his impressive consistency.  However, Andretti endured difficulties in qualifying throughout the season, which often left the Briton with too much ground to make up.  It was an odd issue for Dennis who was so brilliant in qualifying on his way to become world champion in 2023.  "Yeah, we just haven't felt good in the car," Dennis told RacingNews365 . "Just a lack of testing, lack of laps.  "When you just arrive at these race weekends with no testing, and everyone else is testing a lot, it's tough.  "So for us, we just need to try and work on a few of our weaknesses and try and just start better. Try and start further up."

Dennis targets bounce back

With his title defence having been unsuccessful, Dennis will have to drop the #1 from his car for Season 11.  He will quickly forget about the recently completed season and is already looking ahead to the introduction of Gen3 EVO.  On top of that, Dennis is pleased that the off-season is very short this year, with official testing taking place in November and the first race in December. "It won't be difficult to forget about this season," joked Dennis. "It'll be pretty straightforward, but I'm excited to drive the new car.  "I haven't done a test yet, I think my first test is in August. So I'm glad it's a short off-season because last season was a very long off-season which is nice.  "But this year, we're straight back into it pretty quick, first race in December so not much time to dwell and just refocus and come back better for São Paulo."
