Lewis Hamilton isn't the only Formula 1 driver with an exclusive car collection , as Daniel Ricciardo has one that rivals the Mercedes man. While it remains to be seen whether the two will compete with one another once the 2021 season begins, we can stack up and compare the exclusive sports cars the pair have in their arsenal. Known as one of the most likeable drivers in Formula 1, Ricciardo is also a formidable competitor, with most rating the Australian's abilities as world-championship calibre. But what does he drive away from the circuit? Check out these eight cars from the Aussie's own private collection.
Toyota Hilux
The first car Ricciardo ever got was a Toyota Hilux in 2006. "My first car, a Toyota Hilux, was a gift from my parents. I think they realised that a pick-up is kind of slow." He practiced before getting his driver's license in his father's Mini Cooper S.
Porsche 918 Spyder
This Porsche 918 Spyder was the first car Ricciardo was really proud of, and it's easy to see why. With 875 horsepower, the Spyder can get from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.6 seconds. Ricciardo likes it, but then again, said: "Everything feels a bit slow after an F1 car."
Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Ricciardo has a property in Monaco - don't they all - where his Porsche 911 GT3 RS lives. This beast of a car is equipped with a phenomenal 513bhp turbo engine that is perhaps wasted on the streets of Monte Carlo.
Ford F-150 Raptor
In 2018 the Australian was feeling nostalgic and bought a Ford F-150 Raptor pick-up truck that reminded him of the Toyota Hilux from his early years. However, it currently resides with a friend in America.
Renault Megane RS
Not just any Megane for the Aussie driver who secured Renault's first podium finish since 2011, but the fastest in the series by far. “When I drive to and from Renault F1 in Oxfordshire, I can choose from a pool of cars. When I'm chilling with my music, I take the Renault Kadjar, an SUV. If I want to have some fun, then I grab the Megane RS," Ricciardo said. As a Renault driver in 2019 and 2020, he has added this one to his collection.
Aston Martin Valkyrie
Ricciardo, of course, drove for Red Bull for many years. This ultimate hypercar, the Valkyrie, was developed in collaboration with Aston Martin and the Australian indicated in 2017 that he would like to buy one. Whether he still has it after his departure from Red Bull is anyone's guess.
Aston Martin Vantage
It was also in 2017 that Ricciardo confirmed, as an Aston Martin Red Bull Racing driver, that he already owned a 2016 Aston Martin Vantage - the V12 version that is. "It's a cool car", he said. No arguments there.
McLaren 675LT
Years before Ricciardo penned his McLaren Formula 1 contract, he was spotted in a blue version of this McLaren 675LT. He'll struggle to reach the top speed of 330km/h in Monaco but a little cruising on the Cote d'Azur never did anyone any harm.
