Dan Ticktum has revealed that no progress is currently being made with Cupra Kiro over a seat for Gen4 next season in Formula E, with the Briton admitting he is "not particularly happy" with how he has been treated.

Ticktum is one of several drivers without a contract for the competitive introduction of Gen4 next season, which is expected to get underway in December.

The Briton is in his fifth Formula E campaign with the same team, which has previously been known as NIO 333 and ERT since he joined for Season 8 at the start of 2022.

It has been a difficult start to the final year of Gen3 for Ticktum, largely due to factors outside of his control.

Pace has not been a problem; unfortunately, bad luck has. He has been hit in multiple races while in contention for big points but has still managed to finish fifth and fourth in the last two rounds in Jeddah and Madrid.

As more drivers begin to secure seats for next season and Gen4, Ticktum has yet to receive a new contract. While he would like to remain with Cupra Kiro, he is unhappy with how he has been treated contractually.

Asked if he is any closer to securing a deal for Gen4, Ticktum told RacingNews365 in Madrid: "Not at the moment — I don’t know.

"I’ve not had any indication from this team, and I’m not particularly happy with how they’ve treated me contractually the whole time I’ve been here, to be honest.

"I won’t go into it too much, but I don’t want to leave the team. I’ve enjoyed working with them since the start and our sort of rise, and all the rest of it.

"And, yeah, I don’t necessarily want to leave, but I’ve got to do what’s best for my career. So we’ll see."

Whether at Cupra Kiro or not, the target for the 26-year-old is to be on the grid for Gen4, which he believes will propel the championship forward.

Discussing whether he wants a seat for Gen4, Ticktum explained: "I’d certainly like to give Gen4 a go. Yeah, I would.

"I think I’ve heard good and bad things about it — mainly good, though. To be honest, I think it’s a big step up for the championship, and it could be quite a cool thing to be a part of. So, yeah, I’d definitely like to give it a go."
